Suzanne Powney
Suzanne Powney is a book artist and letterpress printer, founder of BlackDog Letterpress in 2005. She learned her craft from master printers who ran the print shop at the Museum of Printing History in Houston, Texas. She went on to get her MFA in Graphic Communications from the University of Houston while also working as a lecturer teaching letterpress to the undergraduates. Since 2009, Powney has printed and produced artist books under the name BlackDog Letterpress. These books use color, texture and pattern to create tactile experiences for the viewer that are researched in the history of architecture, art and design. Her work can be found in dozens of libraries and private collections in the United States and abroad, including Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University and The Yale Arts Library.
She also is available for custom design and printing work for your letterpress needs.
